Diamond Brick Stitch Earrings: A Beginner Tutorial with a Bold Geometric Twist

Diamond Brick Stitch Earrings: A Beginner Tutorial with a Bold Geometric Twist

There's a reason diamond-shaped earrings never go out of style — that elongated shape is endlessly flattering, and it gives you plenty of room to play with pattern and color. In this tutorial, I'll show you how to make these diamond brick stitch earrings, using single brick stitch to build a striking black, silver, and blue geometric design from the ground up.

If you've dabbled in brick stitch before, or even if this is your first time picking up a needle and thread, this project is a great, approachable way to build real confidence with shaping.

Why This Design Works So Well

This earring uses single brick stitch, worked in a way that increases and then decreases row by row to form a clean, symmetrical diamond shape. The upper portion features an intricate geometric pattern, while the lower point is worked in a solid contrasting color, giving the whole design a graphic, two-toned look.

Because the shaping is symmetrical, this is also a wonderful project for really nailing down the mechanics of increasing and decreasing in brick stitch, a skill you'll use again and again in future shaped designs.

Why This Is a Great Beginner Project

  • Clear, repeatable shaping — increasing to the center and decreasing back down teaches you the core mechanics of shaping in brick stitch.
  • Bold, high-impact result — the finished earrings look striking and graphic without requiring advanced skills.
  • Great pattern-reading practice — the geometric chart is detailed enough to build real confidence following a pattern.
  • Color-blocking practice — combining a patterned section with a solid color block is a useful skill for future designs.

Get the Pattern

The exact design shown in this tutorial is my original earring pattern, Black & Silver Diamonds. This video walks you through the full technique step by step, and the pattern includes the complete bead chart, supply list, and specific Delica bead numbers so you can recreate the design exactly.

What You'll Need

(Adjust this to match your exact supply list from the video.)

  • Miyuki Delica beads in black, silver, and your chosen accent color (blue, as shown above)
  • Beading needle (size 10 or 12)
  • Beading thread (like Nymo, FireLine, or C-Lon)
  • A pair of earring wires or jump rings and ear hooks
  • Scissors or thread snips
  • The Black & Silver Diamonds pattern (linked above!)

What to Expect in the Tutorial

This tutorial is designed to be approachable for beginners, and covers:

  • How to start your beadwork with single brick stitch
  • How to increase and decrease your bead count to build the diamond shape
  • Tips for following the geometric pattern accurately
  • How to transition cleanly from the patterned section to the solid color point
  • How to attach your finished beadwork to an earring finding

By the end, you'll have a bold, wearable pair of earrings and a much stronger grasp on shaping in brick stitch, a skill you'll be able to apply to countless future designs.
