100 Days of Beading Project and Delica Bead Color Pallets

100 Days of Beading Project and Delica Bead Color Pallets

This past January, I started a project called 100 Days of Beading. The concept is to create one peyote stitch square each day without using a specific pattern or design. This practice is intended to serve as an exercise in mindfulness. As a bead artist, it can be easy to fixate on the final outcome and lose sight of the creative process. However, the act of beading can be healing and soothing for the soul, and it has certainly supported me through some challenging times in my life.

I am now halfway through this project, and I have been overwhelmed by the words of encouragement I’ve received from individuals around the world, as well as by those who have joined me in starting their own 100-day projects. If you’re interested in following along, you can find me on YouTube or Instagram. I  have a step-by-step tutorial on YouTube is you would like to join me. You can find the link here.

One of the many wonderful benefits of this practice is that I have greatly expanded my color palettes. It’s easy to become stuck in familiar color schemes, but my daily beaded squares have given me the opportunity to experiment and enjoy color once again. I have been thrilled with the results! To inspire others, I have begun creating color palettes that feature the Miyuki Delica bead product numbers for fellow beaders to use as a reference. You can find first set below and check back or join the mailing list to find out when new color pallets are published.

I hope you will consider starting your own mindfulness practice with beads. Remember to take it slow and focus on one bead at a time.

Happy Beading!
